Improv has always been the backbone of The Alley Theater. This latest venture with Art Sanctuary is no exception. Resurrected after nearly 15 years, The Bad Actors Club, our resident improv company, brings some of the best that this type of theater has to offer. Other groups will be invited to improv challenge events, including a new group, Unemployed In Greenland!
The February 5th show is no exception and will be dubbed the first 2010 Improv-Challenge Event in the spirit of “Whose Line is it Anyway?

Love Hurts, And We Have The Cure For The Sting!: Art Sanctuary and The Alley Theater present the answer to the Hallmark holiday with “Va Va Valentine”
Louisville, KY – Art Sanctuary and The Alley Theater are presenting The Va Va Vixen’s Burlesque Troupe’s production of “Va Va Valentine” on February 6th and 13th at The Pointe located at 1205 E Washington Street. This multi-disciplinary show presents a dysfunctional examination of love as a mid-aged cynic is visited by his “Guardian Cupid” who takes him on a grand tour of his skewed vision of love via sexy lingerie-clad dancers, pole dancing, fan dancers, aerial arts and some good old fashioned tassel twirling!

A sequel to the successful “Va Va Voyeur,” the show starts at 8pm. The pre-show begins at 7pm and features original music by singer/songwriter Vicki Meares, magic by Darshwood the Conjurer, vending by Pure Romance, and scantily-clad cupids handing out party favors for those who are searching for that non-conventional Valentine’s date. Admission is $15 with a cash bar and refreshments, and tickets are available online below:

Vampire Lesbians of Sodom–One of the longest running plays in Off-Broadway history and part of the original Alley Theater’s lineup, “Vampire Lesbians of Sodom” tells the saga of two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom. Their bitter rivalry as bloodsuckers, but more importantly, as actresses, endures for two thousand years, with stops along the way in 1920’s silent movie Hollywood and contemporary Las Vegas.

Sleeping Beauty (Coma)–This is the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty set in a swinging mod London of the 1960’s. Sebastian Lore, a flamboyant megalomaniac fashion designer, discovers a young temp receptionist, Enid Wetwhistle, and tries to turn her into a high fashion model. She rebels and finds refuge with a wacky young fairy godmother of a struggling fashion designer, Fauna Alexander, and her photographer boyfriend, Ian. The three become huge stars in the new mod era, with Enid now transformed as “Rose”, and proclaimed as “the face of the sixties”. Sebastian Lore plots his revenge on the trio and slips some bad LSD into Rose’s drink. She lapses into a twenty-year coma. In the eighties, a handsome nutritionist named Craig Prince revives her and they all live happily ever after.

FIGHT GIRL BATTLE WORLD

Fight Girl Battle World will have all new fights by Producer/Director Scott Davis!
The performances will be directed by Todd Ziggler. This is the epic journey of E-V, the last human female in a post-galactic, war-torn universe. E-V, filled with self-hate and sad solitude over her human state, makes her living by fighting various galactic creatures at the underground fighting ring of Battle World. She eventually encounters General DanH, the war vet responsible for the genocide of humans.
In his attempt to make amends for essentially wiping out her entire race of species, General DanH offers to lead E-V to the last human man in the universe. Aided by a gender-ambiguous, alien spaceship pilot and a snarky malarky robot, E-V and the General embark on their quest to save the human race, with the hopes of making human babies before impending galactic forces destroy them all.
