Farewell show for the Louisville Improvisor’s member, Josh Lane

Dates:  3/18, 2010
Cost: $10 All Seats
Doors Open: 7:00 PM, Show Begins 8:00 PM

Louisville Improvisors originated ensemble Improvisation in Louisville over ten years ago and continue to explore the unique art form of Theatrical Improvisation.

Fresh off their highly successful annual improv festival Improvapalooza, which just celebrated it’s 10th year of bringing together the best improv groups in the country.

What people are saying about Louisville Improvisors:

“This town has its share of rock bands and theater troupes, but rare is the group that combines the thrill of both. The Louisville Improvisors are improv traditionalists – almost nothing the do is planned – but with a rock ‘n’ roll vibe.” Velocity

“The most substantial group in town.” Louisville Magazine

“Their talent is A+” Leo Weekly

Cost:  $16/$12 (student rate)

Fight Girl Battle World will have all new fights by Producer/Director Scott Davis!

The performances will be directed by Todd Ziggler.  This is the epic journey of E-V, the last human female in a post-galactic, war-torn universe.   E-V, filled with self-hate and sad solitude over her human state, makes her living by fighting various galactic creatures at the underground fighting ring of Battle World. She eventually encounters General DanH, the war vet responsible for the genocide of humans.

In his attempt to make amends for essentially wiping out her entire race of species, General DanH offers to lead E-V to the last human man in the universe. Aided by a gender-ambiguous, alien spaceship pilot and a snarky malarky robot, E-V and the General embark on their quest to save the human race, with the hopes of making human babies before impending galactic forces destroy them all.

Annmarie Campbell, grew up in Louisville, and was a passionate artist and Murray State art graduate that understood both the dark and the beautiful sides of weathering life’s journeys. The intent of her work was to investigate relationships of duality—principally, attraction and repulsion. Campbell devoted much of her time to drawing, printmaking and photography.

She died at age 23 in May 2006, while serving as an artist-in-residence at Fancy That in Paris, Tenn., attacked by an alligator on an outdoor adventure in Ocala, Florida. Yankeelov, her mother, established a scholarship in her name at Murray State to support art students. The fund is looking to reach endowment with this event. Yankeelov also serves on the board of Art Sanctuary, and supports the vision of every artist—to be heard and seen through their work. Proceeds will benefit both missions.

Featured artists will include: Scott Slusher, photography of the human form; Mary Verrandeaux, horse themed paintings; Lisa Frye, oils and water colors of the dream world; Melissa Flautt, whimsical clay pots; Vian Sora, mystical works from Baghdad, and Jesse Cooley, compiled and found art; as well as other famed artists in other genres.

Art Sanctuary:

Art Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non profit founded in Louisville, Kentucky in 2004, formed around the humanist principle that “Your Life is Your Art.” As a community arts collective, the Art Sanctuary mission is to provide support for local artists through promotions, events, and education. Art Sanctuary services are made available to all local artists who need a place to exhibit, perform, or create their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations.

Murray State University Annmarie Campbell Art Scholarship:

Murray State University maintains a strong academic reputation and has been rewarded with high marks when compared with other regional public universities in U.S. News & World Report and other college ranking publications. The school is Kentucky’s only public university to be listed in the U.S. News & World Report top tier for past 18 consecutive years. The scholarship, established in Annmarie’s name, goes to a junior or senior female art student attending the institution. Students can receive the award in their junior year and reapply for senior year. Each eligible student must submit at least 10 electronic photo or art images in email or printed pictures of any type of art for review by 2 art professors for a final selection. Two Murray art professors will be selected to review these each award period.

The student must have a 3.0 GPA and maintain a 3.0 GPA in order to be eligible to receive the award again.

A “Hair”Larious comedy about gay men, and coping with their obvious femininity!

“Guy” a out-of-the-womb DIVA becomes frustrated with trying to “fit in” and literally almost explodes in the process.  His adventure begins in elementary school, and spirals through a web of  sexual exploits and accidental slips of “bitchiness” that lands him in the most unlikely of places.

“Foley,” a firecracker entrepreneur from the age of 15 giving “celebrity haircuts” and dodging his conservative family – heads on on his own to make it in the glamorous world of scissors, shampoos, and salon gossip.

Both Foley & Guy’s stories intertwine with outrageous characters, including in the closet college guys, sexual experimentation, and of course – the horrors of working retail!

This is a show that brings a whole new meaning to “Drama Queen”, and is most certainly a night of theater you will remember!

18+ only
